Originally conceived as a performance piece based on utility wear, Workforce quickly evolved into an exploration of identity through electronic compositions and dystopian narratives. A self-contained universe where lead rains from the sky and helicopters hum in the night.

Workforce is a duo consisting of Víctor Hidalgo (previous projects include Ciudad Lineal, Acción Diplomática & Futura), who builds the synthetic structure that holds the songs; and Josey Heyes (from a background in performance and visual arts), who writes the words and gives them life.

Sonically, 'bound' represents a blend of genres: minimal wave, spoken word, ambient and even techno are easily traceable as influences.
Anxiety runs all over the tracks; the short and piercing basslines leave gaps everywhere for distorted synths to fill.

There is no passive listener.

Lyrically, Workforce is constantly self-aware yet still manages to push into political boundaries, depending more on the power of suggestion rather than explicit dictation. Cynicism through humor is a key component to the language of Workforce.

The cover art is by Berlin-based artist Eunju Pi (Seoul, South Korea), currently studying fine arts at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK).
Eunju Pi works in abstract paintings, employing gradients and spaces as her main language of expression. The themes mostly deal with anonymous feelings and unnamed emotions.

The diptych is taken from the “Black Painting” series, a collection of 20x20 acrylic on canvas works that, due to its compact format and layered monochrome, invites an observant eye and a contemplation of subconscious notions.
